The Try Guys Try 14 Hours Of Labor Pain Simulation
Finally, Expecting Dads Can Experience Labor Pains
When your husband whimpers about a sore throat, have you found yourself saying "Chin up. Your cold isnothingcompared to what I went through when I was in labor." No? Just us? If you have ever wished that men could understand what it feels like to push a baby through...well, you know, then you'll appreciate what one Chinese maternity hospital is doing.
After a recent study revealed that moms-to-be wanted their partners to be more empathetic, executives at Aima maternity hospital in eastern China created a Pain Experience Camp which gives men the opportunity to feel the "joys" of childbirth through electric shock. The shocks, which are administered on an intensity scale of one to 10, cause the mens' abdominal muscles to spasm, simulating contractions.
"The pain is intended to create more loving and caring husbands," Wu Ningxing, Aima's general manager told the Wall Street Journal.
For some men, the experience was completely worth it. Before Pain Camp, Zheng Weitao, a physics teacher, would only help his pregnant wife when she asked. "Now, even before she wakes up, or even thinks of it, I have water—even honey water—waiting for her," he told the Wall Street Journal.
Since the service started in November, over 300 curious men have signed up. In fact, the experiment has been so successful that Aima started a pop-up booth at a local mall. Imagine that. We just hope their wives treat them to an Orange Julius after.
