• How to connect a heating battery

    Instruction
First pick a radiator for replacement. Consider that it is necessary to select not only in size, but also in strength. So, if you live in a high-rise building, do not install aluminum radiators - they can withstand pressure within 16 atmospheres, whereas pressure surges in the systemheatingmay exceed this value. You can use bimetallic radiators with a frame made of steel tubes and an aluminum shell. Such radiators withstand pressure up to 40 atmospheres.
When installing a new radiator, be sure to provide for ball valves, this will allow you to regulate the temperature in the room. In addition, the taps on the pipes will give you the opportunity, in case of a radiator leak, to shut off the water and calmly do the repairs.
Before replacing the radiator it is necessary to turn off the water in the riser. To do this, you should call a housing department mechanic, but if the replacement takes place in the summer, you can turn off the water yourself - real experience shows that many residents do this without complicating their lives by going to the housing office. The valves are located in the basement, for their overlap sufficiently suitable key - for example, gas.But be careful - if the pipes and valves are old and rusty, do not take chances and call a plumber.
Shut off the water, unscrew the radiator nuts with the gas wrench. Since in old houses flax with paint was usually used for winding, considerable effort may be required to break the nuts off. It is more convenient to do this work with an assistant - one person unscrews, the second holds the radiator.
Prepare in advance a container into which you can drain the water from the radiator and pipes. Usually a dirty dark liquid flows from an unscrewed battery, so try to substitute a container in time so as not to smear the floors.
Unscrewedbatteryremove hooks that support it. When installing a new radiator, the main task is to ensure the tightness of the connections. If you do not do this job well enough, after the start of the heating season, the battery will start flowing. This is where cranes can come in handy, so be sure to install them.
Sealing threaded connections can be carried out both in the traditional way, linen towels on oil paint, and modern, using fum-tape.Which way is better? If steel pipes, use flax, but replace the paint with a modern sealant - for example, automotive, designed for high temperature. This option can be considered one of the best. If the connections are brass, you can use a fum tape. Tighten the nuts tightly, but reasonably so as not to disrupt the thread.
