The World's First Ever 'Smart Bike' | The GCN Show Ep. 181
There’s unexpected and then there’s this. Renowned automotive design house Pininfarina has ditched four wheels in favour of two, teaming up with Milan-based bicycle maker De Rosa to create a carbon fiber bike.
The result has been dubbed the De Rosa SK Pininfarina and debuted at Eurobike in Germany earlier this month. The bike’s racing specs include a Campagnolo Super Record EPS electronic groupset and Vittoria Corsa SR inner tubes. A mix of innovative mold tooling, 3D printing and special resins was used to ensure the De Rosa SK scored high marks for stiffness, comfort and stability.
This is allegedly the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Pininfarina and De Rosa, so be on the lookout for more of these marvels in the future.
