Vogue US magazine refused to cooperate with models that are under 18
The fashion industry is shaking again. And this time, the epicenter was the American magazine Vogue, which reported on its difficult decision to refuse to cooperate with models that are under 18 years old. An unexpected position for the publication, the cover of which was always adorned by young girls (recall at least 14-year-old Brooke Shields on the cover of the February 1980 issue!). But the editors admit their mistakes and promises that this will not happen again. “We cannot rewrite our past,” they took a position in Vogue. "But we can take care of the future."
So, 16-year-old Kaye Gerber was lucky that she managed to get on the covers of French and Italian Vogue, because now she will have to wait two years to find herself again in the leading fashion gloss. Her mother Cindy Crawford, by the way, debuted on the cover of Vogue US in 1986, when she was 20 years old. So maybe everything is for the best!

The age requirement is not the first Vogue initiative this year. Earlier, the publication ceased cooperation with photographers Mario Testino and Bruce Weber, who were accused of sexual harassment. In addition, Vogue promises to organize on the set of dressing rooms and let the girls decide for themselves whether to agree to undress during a photo shoot or not.
Despite all this, the models are still unprotected. So, in early August, a lawsuit was brought against the well-known model agencies, including Next and Elite. The models accuse agencies of strictly controlling their weight and not paying salaries, as well as making tough demands such as making a plastic hip reduction operation or throwing an ordinary guy to meet a star.
