    Where is the Hermitage?

    On the map

This grandiose museum is forever inscribed in the history of world culture, as one of the largest in Europe. Probably many Russians know where the Hermitage is. Specific address: House 2, Palace, St. Petersburg, Russia. The museum is a national treasure and is called the State (under the jurisdiction and protection of the state).

The founder of the museum can be considered Catherine II. She acquired works in the collection for herself, privately. Initially, this collection of art objects was located in a small palace wing, called the Hermitage, from which the name originated. In 1852, the collection of works was opened for viewing to the general public.

    Modernity Hermitage

Now the state institution is a rather complex complex of premises: storages and exhibition halls, one of the largest in the world in terms of area and collection size (the number of exhibits reaches three million units). There are exhibited cultural monuments and works of art from around the world and from the Stone Age to the present day.

    How to get there

You need to take the subway to the station "Admiralteyskaya". Turn left at the station exit, then onto Nevsky Prospect. Go to the Neva River in the direction of the Admiralty. Near it will be the desired museum (at the end of the avenue, you need to turn to the Palace). From the subway the road takes up to 20 minutes.
