Amazon Echo Look review
Why the Amazon Echo Look Is at the Top of My List This Holiday Season
I never jumped on the smart home bandwagon—no one in my family owns an either—but when the Echo Look was announced in 2019, I couldn't help but get excited. After an invitation-only soft launch, Amazon finally made it available for everyone to purchase last June, so naturally the became the number-one item on my Christmas list.
As a woman who takes far too many mirror selfies, I'm itching to get my hands on one. Rather than craning my neck to see the back of my dress or standing on tiptoe to view my shoes, all I would need to say is, "Alexa, take a selfie," or "Alexa, take a video," and I'd be able to check my outfit from all angles.
Aside from clearing out my phone's camera roll and preventing backaches from awkward posing, the Amazon Echo Look would be my own virtual stylist. It offers style suggestions—and gets more personalized over time—plus, you can connect with Amazon fashion specialists when you opt in to share photos with them. The app also allows you to edit your photos or share your style choices with friends via text, Instagram, Facebook or other social networks. If your best friend isn't available to give an honest opinion, compare two outfits with the Style Check feature and it tells you which ensemble looks better based on fit, color matching, and current trends. Whether you're trying to choose the perfect date-night look or wondering if those jeans really do make your butt look big (hey, if you got it flaunt it), second opinions from Amazon's team of fashion experts are at your fingertips.
I'm an organization fanatic by nature—seriously, I rearrange my closetfor fun—so the app's ability to sort and store my wardrobe definitely caught my attention. The Echo Look algorithm automatically categorizes outfits by season, weather, occasion, and more. I can create customized collections (like looks I want to bring on my next vacation) and keep a record of all my fashion experiments. Not only will it make packing easier, but shopping, too. Instead of questioning whether that new top I've been eyeing will match the jacket in my closet, I can just scroll through the images and know right then and there. No more buyer's remorse? Now that's a gift that keeps on giving.
